About Me

My photo
I am nothing. I am a single grain of sand amongst billions. I am a single voice within a crowd. I am human, I am god, I am here, and this is what I have to say:

All is right with the world... so, let me try again now that everything seems to be working... Does anyone like this picture as much as I do?

Picture looks great! Glad to see all is well. LOL.
I would really like to know YOUR meaning behind amber in glass if you are inclined to divulge?

Yeah, I had definately hit the panic button there for a few minutes and started going crazy, but I had some good help getting things back together. I like that picture alot so it was worth all the grief.

I don't mind divulging at all. In fact, I'm really glad you asked. Aside from being a writer I'm a bit of a musician too. Well, not a good one--it's really just a hobby for me because I love playing guitar and attempting to sing and write my own songs. Amber In Glass is the stage/band moniker I picked for myself.

The reasons I chose it are pretty personal to me, but it is something I'm really glad to finally be able to share with someone. Amber, because someone really important in my life used to tell me I had "amber eyes".

The "In Glass" comes from being a play on words taking the eye connotation into account and the phrase "looking through a glass jar".

Essentially, what I'm implying with the name is "on the inside looking out" since I think that everyone probably at one time or another goes through feelings of isolation and seperation where they feel like they are the only person in the world that understands themselves.

Sorry if I'm being long-winded I'm trying to give you a brief explanation, but it means a little more to me than what can easily be explained. It's also a bit of a play on the idea that something is part of a whole and yet still seperate.

Going back to the whole "in a glass jar" thing the jar is still part of the world, part of the shelf it rests on, but whatever is inside has a seperate view from whatever isn't.

That isn't to say, I personally feel like I am removed from the world. Mainly my point is I think that it is very hard for any two people, no matter how well they know each other or how much love bonds them, to really get a look as to what is inside the other persons head. It is something I feel like we could all do well with trying to remember, if we let go of assumptions and just open up a little we might just make this whole world a little kinder of a place to live.

That's my hope anyway. Amber in itself I feel is just the perfect word for it, since more often than not pieces of Amber are found with organisms trapped within frozen and looking out.

Thank you for being the first person to give me the opportunity to answer that question, Jennifer.

Well, it must be my computer, but I really can't see much of the background pic you so carefully chose -- just some cracked, dirty rose wallpaper and sometimes a glimpse of water rushing thru a window. I am definitely wanting a new computer to keep up with all of this (new for me) blog stuff.

Carol, I always forget that I have pretty large monitor, and what something looks like on my screen might not be the same on everyone elses. I really wish I could show you this picture, the thing as a whole is really cool. I'm sure it loses alot of its affect when viewed just in part, but I'm glad to see the comments are working for you now!

Thank you for sharing this Andrew! For myself I was seeing the image of an insect in an amber ring I once had that I picked up traveling. "if we let go of assumptions" - I feel the same way. If you have the opportunity, take a look at my post, the writer the perpetual child - similar idea...
(I see your bakcground clearly - it is awsome!)
